Exercice de style #4: Nietzsche
An extract from ‘Der tolle Mensch’, tale appearing in Nietzsche’s book Die fröhlische Wissenchaft (The Gay Science), it is in this tale that a ‘foolish man’ announces to a non-believing audience that God is dead, killed by man. Here’s a quick translation of this quote:
« Lightning and thunder need time,
The light of stars needs time,
deeds need time,
even after they’re done,
to be seen and heard. »
